The short version
Use Jarta respectfully. Be 18 or older. Be yourself. Don't harass people. You can leave anytime and take your data with you. We won't add dark patterns, ever.
Who these terms apply to
By creating a Jarta account or using our service, you agree to these terms. If you don't agree, please don't use Jarta. These terms form a contract between you and Jarta.
We may update these terms when the product changes significantly. We'll notify you by email at least 14 days before changes take effect, and you can delete your account if you disagree.
Eligibility
You must be at least 18 years old to use Jarta. By creating an account you confirm you are 18 or over. We take this seriously: accounts found to belong to minors will be removed immediately.
You must be a human. Automated accounts, bots, and scripted profiles are not permitted.
Your account
- Provide accurate, current information. Fake names, fake photos, and impersonation are not allowed.
- One account per person.
- Keep your login credentials secure.
- Notify us immediately at support@jarta.app if you suspect unauthorised access.
Community rules
Be genuine
Use real photos of yourself. Be honest about who you are and what you're looking for. Don't create profiles to gather data, to test the product, or for any purpose other than genuine connection.
Be respectful
Treat everyone with kindness. This includes people you never match with, people you do match with, and people you eventually stop talking to. Rejection and silence are part of dating; harassment is not.
Be safe
Don't share your home address, financial information, or other sensitive personal details in the app. If someone asks for money or makes you feel unsafe, please report them.
What's not allowed
- Harassment, threats, stalking, or unwanted sexual messages.
- Hate speech targeting protected characteristics (race, gender, religion, sexuality, disability, etc.).
- Explicit sexual content in profiles or unsolicited in messages.
- Solicitation, advertising, escort services, or any commercial activity.
- Sharing or distributing another user's content without consent.
- Attempting to circumvent bans or create accounts after removal.
Membership and payment
Our pricing promise
Jarta costs $1.99/month. Every feature is included at that price. We will never add pay-to-see-likes, boosts, super-likes, or any feature that requires spending more money. This is in our terms because we want you to be able to hold us to it.
- Subscriptions bill monthly. You can cancel anytime from Settings — cancellation takes effect at the end of the current billing period.
- Refunds are handled case-by-case for technical failures or billing errors.
- If we raise the price, we'll give you at least 60 days' notice and the option to cancel before the new price takes effect.
Content you post
You own your content (photos, messages, profile text). By posting it on Jarta, you give us a limited license to display and deliver it as part of the service. We don't claim ownership, and we won't use your photos or messages for advertising.
When you delete your account, your content is removed within 30 days. Messages in active conversations may persist briefly for the other party until they too are removed on a scheduled basis.
Reports and moderation
We investigate every report. When you report a user, your identity is protected: we store a hashed identifier, not your user ID, so the person you report cannot discover who reported them.
We may suspend or permanently remove accounts that violate these terms. For serious violations (harassment, underage accounts, illegal activity), removal may be immediate and without warning.
Account deletion
You can delete your account anytime from Settings → Account → Delete account. We'll begin removing your personal data immediately; full removal completes within 30 days. Anonymised safety records are retained for up to 3 years.
30 days after deletion, your account and associated data cannot be recovered.
Limitation of liability
Jarta is provided in good faith. We are not responsible for the actions of other users. We are not liable for indirect or consequential losses arising from use of the service. Our total liability to you in any 12-month period is capped at the amount you paid us during that period.
Nothing in these terms limits liability for fraud, death, or personal injury caused by our negligence.
Governing law
These terms are governed by the laws of Norway. Disputes will first be attempted through direct contact; if unresolved, they go to Norwegian courts. If you are in the EU, you may also use the EU Online Dispute Resolution platform.
